Safety Zone
Safety is something that can’t be ignored. Someone at your venue has a legal responsibility to ensure it is a safe environment.
Below you will find the four types of safety testing we offer:
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)
We care about the electrical safety of your specialised stage lighting and sound equipment and have a great knowledge of your equipment which means we can offer the best possible service using our experienced engineers. We will safely store your asset details and test certificates at Northern Stage Services as well as issuing you with a test certificate for your records.
We recommend that this work is carried out annually.
Periodic Electrical Safety Inspections
Our qualified engineers carry out this specialist electrical safety installation test complying with electrical regulation BS7671:2008 and NICEIC Requirements. This mainly covers the fixed electrical equipment which provides the electrical supply to the stage systems. This is an important safety test to prove that safety components such as earth bonding and breaker/fuses (of the correct rating for application) function correctly.
We recommend that this work is carried out annually usually at the same time as the portable appliance testing.
Raise and Lower Suspension Tests
Our experienced engineers will thoroughly safety inspect your system whether it be a single pulley and winch holding a chandelier to a full counterweight flying system. All the work will be carried out complying with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).
Once the engineers have completed the inspection a detailed report will be produced providing you with a list of your equipment and any remedial work which may be needed. Once any work has been carried out a certificate will be issued.
The thorough inspection should be carried out at least annually.
Fixed Suspension Tests
Our experienced engineers will carry out a thorough safety inspection on all ridged and cable suspensions and provide a detailed report. These systems are covered by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
The thorough inspection should be carried out between One to Three years period.
When considering safety you must also think about training. Please visit our Training Zone for details of our courses such as Safe Use of Ladders in Theatres. For a quotation for testing please e-mail testing@nstage.co.uk.
